Sugar Is After Me
It’s Christmas (Holiday) season, and I just could not stop myself from making fudge (Mamie Eisenhower’s’ Million Dollar Fudge) and powered sugar cookies. When I was making them, I told myself that the goodies were for others. How I delude myself! It is now December 22, and I have been the chief consumer of all that sugar. In my case, sugar is good in that it wakes me up. It has proven useful when I have been driving. However, in other respects, it just speeds me up so that I become a bit manic. Christmas, with all the conflicting emotions and social gatherings, is not a good time to induce mania. Since sugar tastes so good, it is hard to give it up. My solution in the past has been to eat low-sugar dark chocolate to keep myself awake in critical moments. It does not taste that great, so I don’t want so much. Okay then, dark chocolate, here I come.
